My Moving Story

我这一年的生活很特别，与已经过去的那些年相比较，有很多的不一样的地方。

This year was very different from all the other years.

我们从蒙特利尔搬到了多伦多。平时去多伦多，我总是特别兴奋，可这一次，我却更想留在蒙特利尔。因为这次不是去度假，而是为了上学。我们没去 Claw and Kitty、CN 塔这些好玩的地方，所以一点都不轻松。

We moved from Montreal to Toronto. Usually, I feel so excited to visit Toronto, but this time I really wanted to stay in Montreal. That’s because this time we didn’t come for a vacation. Instead of going to Claw and Kitty, the CN Tower, and all the fun places, we came here for school. It just wasn’t as fun.

从去年的9月开始，我们入住公寓，迄今整整一年。以前，我从没住过公寓。那种地方窄小，吵闹，还没有空调。不过，也有很多好的地方，距市中心很近，购物比较方便，可以与更多的人交朋友，尤其是过万圣节，过圣诞节，过新年的日子里，感觉很热闹，很好玩，处处都充满了节日的气氛。到了今年三月的时候，爸爸妈妈告诉我，我们有了新的房子，夏天就要搬进去。这令我感到高兴。

For one whole year, we lived in an apartment. I had never lived in one before. It was small, noisy, and had no AC. We spent Halloween, Christmas, and New Year’s in that apartment. Then, in March, my parents told me that we had bought a house and would move in during the summer.

“宝贝，你是不是很期待搬出公寓呀？” 妈妈问我。

“Hey sweetie, are you excited to move out of our apartment?” Mom asked.

“是的，可我也会想念这里，因为我们一起在这里过过节日。”

“Yes, but I’ll also miss it because we spent holidays here together.”

妈妈听了，格格地笑了。

Mom smiled.

这三个月里，我和姐姐一直在计划房间的布置。我们给房间的墙挑了颜色，我选的是粉色。我还在 AliExpress、Temu 和 Shein 上找装饰。我挑了 Hello Kitty 的小夜灯、美乐蒂的笔筒、小猫爪的地毯、漂浮云朵装饰，还有 Hello Kitty 的桌垫。我的床脚边，还会有一个白色毛绒绒的豆袋椅。所有这些东西，会让我的房间变得超级可爱！

For the past three months, my sister and I have been planning our room décor. We picked out wall colors—I chose pink. I looked on AliExpress, Temu, and Shein for decorations. I found Hello Kitty night lights, My Melody pen holders, kitty paw rugs, floating clouds, and a Hello Kitty desk mat. I will even have a white fluffy beanbag chair at the foot of my bed. All these things will make my room look much cuter!

离搬家只剩两天了。我希望在新房间的第一个晚上，会特别美好。我想象着自己准备好睡觉，躺在被窝里，等妈妈来给我一个晚安吻。她亲了我一下，关掉灯，轻轻离开。我会想着开心的事，好让自己更快睡着——这是小时候姐姐教我的小技巧。

Now there are only two more days until we move in. I hope my very first night in my new room will be special! I imagine myself getting ready for bed, lying under the covers, waiting for a goodnight kiss from Mom. She kisses me, turns off the light, and leaves. I try to think of happy things so I can fall asleep faster—that’s a trick my sister taught me when I was younger.

可是三十分钟过去了，我还是没睡着。平时我五分钟就能睡着的呀！又过了一小时，我翻身一看，时钟指向22:30。我轻轻穿上拖鞋，偷偷溜去看姐姐。结果她也还没睡。

But thirty minutes pass, and I’m still awake. Usually, I fall asleep in five minutes! Then an hour passes. I roll over and see the clock: 22:30. Quietly, I put on my slippers and sneak into my sister’s room. She’s awake too!

“姐姐，你也还没有入睡呀？” 我小声的问。

“You’re not asleep yet?” I whisper.

“是的，因为我实在是太兴奋了。” 她如实地对我回答。

“No, I’m too excited,” she whispers back.

我坐在她的床上，两个人聊啊聊。突然看见时钟指向 23:35。糟糕，太晚了！我听见妈妈那轻轻的脚步声，正朝这边走过来。我赶紧溜回房间，钻进被子里装睡。听见她推开姐姐的门，小声说了几句。然后，屋子渐渐安静下来。

We sit on her bed and talk. Suddenly, her clock shows 11:35. Oh no—it’s way too late! I hear Mom’s soft footsteps coming down the hallway. I run back to my room, slip under the blankets, and pretend to be asleep. I hear her checking on my sister, faint voices whispering, and then the house slowly grows quiet again.

忽然，我听见窗外传来轻轻的鸟叫声，慢慢越来越响亮。阳光照进来，亮得我睁开眼睛。我发现自己竟然一觉睡到了天亮！抬头一看，有三只小鸟正在吃东西——那是因为我在窗边放了喂鸟器。

Then I hear gentle chirps outside my window. They grow louder and louder until sunlight streams into my room. I open my eyes and see three little birds eating from the feeder I placed outside my window.

这就是我想象中搬进新房的第一个夜晚。

This is what I imagine my very first night will be like.

从蒙特利尔到多伦多，从公寓到新家，我发现：改变其实没有那么糟。每个人都只有一次人生，所以要勇敢去尝试改变。

From Montreal to Toronto, from an apartment to a house, I realized: change is not that bad. Every person only has one life, so we should be brave enough to embrace change.
